Supporting Sustainability in the Local Community
As a people-first business, we work closely with our local customers to support their sustainability goals in practical, meaningful ways. This includes flexible delivery options such as self-collection for time-sensitive projects, alongside guidance and support for glass recycling across both pre- and post-consumer cullet waste.
By making sustainable choices easier to implement, we help customers take positive steps towards a more circular approach to glass use. It’s a collaborative effort that reflects how we work: by putting people, not numbers, first and supporting better outcomes, together.
Glass recycling
As members of the Glass Forever Programme with Saint-Gobain Glass, we contribute both pre- and post-consumer glass cullet for recycling.
Pre-consumer cullet includes waste glass generated during manufacturing, such as offcuts or units rejected through quality control. Post-consumer cullet comes from glass removed during replacement projects, often from local homes and commercial installations. Rather than this material going to landfill, local customers are invited to return it to our site for processing.
Using the Saint-Gobain Glass Crusher, glass is separated from spacer bars and collected cleanly and safely, ready to be remanufactured into new, high-performance glazing at Saint-Gobain Glass in Eggborough.
To facilitate a smooth process, Craig Hopper, Key Account Manager, works closely with local businesses, providing clear guidelines and advice on suitable glass types, safe handling procedures and efficient drop-off processes.
“We’ve currently limited this service to local businesses due to capacity,” says Craig. “But it’s a valuable collaboration with Saint-Gobain Glass that’s opened up recycling options which weren’t previously available. The Glass Crusher allows our customers to reduce waste and make meaningful carbon savings, and we’re already seeing strong results.”
Going the extra mile
Craig has received consistently positive feedback from our customers for his hands-on, proactive approach:
“Craig approaches every situation with a positive attitude, prompt communication, and a genuine desire to help. His proactive nature and industry expertise have not only made our day-to-day operations smoother but have also strengthened our confidence in the partnership.”
By making glass recycling more accessible and straightforward, we’re helping customers take practical steps towards a circular economy. It’s another example of how focusing on people, not numbers, and implementing clear communication, collaboration and the right partnerships can deliver better outcomes for our customers, our industry and the environment.
