Rippleacts – Diary of a Company Director
Mark High and Ecoglass’s ongoing support for Rippleacts came together once again at a recent Employers’ Brunch held at the historic Carrow House in Norwich on 17 June 2026.
The event brought together a small group of Rippleacts programme participants for an informal but highly impactful discussion. What began as a relaxed networking session quickly evolved into a personalised advisory clinic, giving attendees direct access to business leaders who shared practical advice, career guidance and real-world insight.
For many participants, it was a rare opportunity to sit down one-to-one with company directors and gain honest perspectives on employment, career progression and the skills that employers value most.
Rippleacts founder Verena Niyadurupola described the experience as “exceptional and incredibly valuable”, highlighting the difference that personalised conversations can make to people who are building confidence and exploring future career opportunities.
Alongside three other local business leaders, Mark shared his experiences of recruiting, developing talent and leading a successful manufacturing business. The discussions covered everything from workplace expectations and employability skills to the opportunities available within the manufacturing sector.
Reflecting on the event, Mark said:
"One of the biggest messages I wanted participants to take away is that attitude matters. Experience is valuable, but a positive mindset, willingness to learn and the ability to work well with others can often make an even greater difference.
When I recruit, cultural fit is just as important as technical ability. Skills can be taught, but attitude is what helps people succeed, grow and contribute to a team. I wanted to give attendees an honest insight into the realities of working in a modern manufacturing business, while also helping them recognise the value they can bring to an employer.
These sessions are about more than careers; they're about building confidence, raising aspirations and helping people believe in their own potential."
The support does not end with the event itself. Following the positive conversations at the brunch, Mark has offered ongoing coaching and mentoring for participants who would benefit from additional guidance as they explore their career options and take their next steps into employment.
As part of Ecoglass's continued commitment to Rippleacts, the company's Head of HR, Tracy, will also be delivering a dedicated workshop in October focused on CV writing skills and interview techniques. The session will provide practical, hands-on advice to help participants present themselves confidently to prospective employers and maximise their chances of securing employment opportunities.
It is this combination of practical support and personal encouragement that sits at the heart of Rippleacts' work.
For Ecoglass, supporting initiatives like Rippleacts is about more than corporate responsibility. It's about investing in people, strengthening local communities and helping individuals realise opportunities they may never have believed were possible.
