It’s official – We're Glass Company of the Year
On Friday, 28 November, Team Ecoglass descended into London City for our first ever G Awards as nominees.
As a family-owned company, we’ve been in business for over 75 years, and yet this is the first time we’ve ever entered the awards.
We went in with 3 entries: Glass Company of the Year, Unsung Hero for Colin Sturdy and Rising Star Craig Hopper.
I’ll be honest – finding out that we scored a hat-trick nomination on our first go was the best surprise. Knowing that our names would be on the screen and that our people would be celebrated – it already felt like we’d won.
And so, I walked into The London Hilton with my head held high, knowing that whatever the outcome, we had done our people, their dedication and commitment, and our company’s legacy proud.
Joy, disbelief and pride
But imagine the scene where, in the closing moments of the awards ceremony, with crossed fingers, racing heartbeats and bated breath, we were announced as The Glass Company of the Year.
Between joy, stunned disbelief and immense pride, we had not only put our best foot forward, but we had cemented our place as a company ready to grow and lead in this industry.
This award doesn't just celebrate what we’ve achieved this year, it honours the legacy of what Gaby and Roger, our joint Managing Directors, have created. It commemorates the tireless efforts of our team members, many of whom have worked for the company through every high, low and evolution. It recognises the tireless efforts of those who lead, those who innovate and those who push to always do better at this brilliant company.
This award doesn’t belong to one person or one idea. It belongs to the collective that is the Ecoglass family.
But it also acts as a marker for what’s next.
When I joined in April 2024, I knew the potential of this company. This award gives flight to that idea – to invest in our people, our abilities and our local community. To nurture talent, to celebrate the wins, and to be honest in our customer interactions – acting with respect and integrity.
Our latest campaign has centred around the idea that all of this and more – what we are made of is more than a statement, and this award really does go a long way to celebrate that.
The most exciting part of all?
It's just the beginning.
I recently wrote about my involvement with Rippleacts, and this will be continuing into the new year. Our sustainability efforts will remain robust and stable, and we’ll continue to invest in our people so that next year we can put forward entries for more rising stars and heroes.
This isn’t a win for today; it’s a win for what’s to come.
Glass Company of the Year?
We’re just getting started.
