Hit the ground running and fly

hit the ground running and fly

Ian Snow, Estimating and Technical Support Manager, joined Ecoglass in the closing months of 2025, and not only did he hit the ground running with his enthusiasm, get-stuck-in attitude, and technical expertise, but he has also actively helped to support the education and growth of our people and our customers.

Working with one of our prominent clients, Ian was invited to deliver an in-person training session with members of their internal sales team. Ian guided the session through a range of glass types, from the performance benefits of Low E glass through to the impact and commercial value of Solar Control glazing. By translating complex technical detail into clear, practical insight, Ian helped build stronger, more confident customer conversations rooted in real-world application.

Going old-school

Embracing his inner school-professor vibes, Ian turned to good old-fashioned flipcharts and hand-drawn diagrams to bring the session to life. This hands-on approach created an engaging, interactive environment that worked well for the group, which had a wide range of experience and familiarity with glass products, ensuring the session was practical, accessible, and genuinely useful for everyone involved.

By tailoring explanations to real-life scenarios and encouraging questions throughout, Ian helped build confidence as well as understanding, reinforcing our commitment to sharing knowledge, supporting our partners, and raising the standard of technical conversations across the supply chain.

Commercial support

Alongside training and education, Ian works closely with customers to provide hands-on technical support for commercial projects, ensuring glass specifications are not only commercially viable but fully compliant and fit for purpose.

Recently, on a lantern rooflight project in Central London, Ian advised on the correct Class 2 safety glass specification. His guidance considered maintenance access requirements and the need to protect against the risk of roof workers falling into the building during installation and ongoing maintenance. As a result, the final specification met all relevant safety and compliance standards expected in a commercial environment.

In another instance, a client required an internal acoustic partition screen with a 51 dB performance rating. Although a lower-priced alternative had been quoted elsewhere, Ian identified that the proposed specification was non-compliant. By flagging this early and recommending the correct glass, the project was delivered safely, compliantly, and without costly rework, reinforcing the importance of getting it right first time and prioritising safety for our customers.

People not numbers

Stories like this reflect what People, not numbers, really means at Ecoglass. It’s about taking the time to understand individual challenges, applying expertise where it genuinely adds value, and building relationships based on trust, knowledge, and care. Through our people, we continue to put expertise, safety, and partnership at the heart of everything we do.
