Meet Jasmine Winter, HR / Office Support
Jasmine has recently celebrated her first anniversary at Ecoglass. Studying for her Level 3 CIPD in HR Support alongside her day-to-day responsibilities, she’s an incredibly busy and positive force of energy in the company! In this interview, we learn more about what she gets up to and her interesting love for potatoes.
Q: Tell me a bit about your role, it sounds really varied?
A: It really is!
As I'm studying for my Level 3 CIPD in HR Support alongside my day-to-day responsibilities, my time is currently split between managing the demands of my course and applying those learnings to my role.
When I started here, I managed a lot of the office admin and supported the HR function with various bits like staff enquiries, managing those all-important holiday bookings, to looking after the induction process. Now I also take more of an active role in supporting our sales teams, often engaging with our customers on their orders and providing feedback to the wider teams.
Q: Tell me more about your apprenticeship course. What does it entail?
A: I complete monthly assignments on a range of topics from HR systems and functions to business fundamentals and leadership styles. I also attend workshops delivered by Norfolk County College Adult Learning, which are a really good opportunity to network and exchange notes with other students on our learnings and how to apply these theories to our roles.
Q: That’s always the biggest challenge, isn’t it? Taking all these ideas and applying them in a way that works for the business.
A: Yeah, definitely. In fact, a part of my assignment is to complete a consultative project for the business which allows me to take my learnings and directly implement it into Ecoglass.
Q: What topic have you chosen to cover?
A: The induction process.
Q: Ah! I've been through many of them!
A: We’ll have to exchange notes because I have so many ideas on what I’d like to do! Currently, we have a very formal process that includes a lot of paperwork and little two-way engagement. I want to create a process that breaks up some of these topics and spreads them over a few different sessions, so it’s not death by paperwork. It also gives the new team members a chance to learn more about the business themselves instead of me throwing all this information at them on day one!
Q: Tell me a bit about your time outside of work, what do you like to get up to?
A: This year, I’m really stepping into my travel era!
Q: Where are you going? Is sun, sea and sand or city breaks?
A: It’s very much sun, sea and sand this year. I’m ticking off the Canary Islands and also visiting Malta in the coming months. To be honest, I really want to visit the Maldives, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about Egypt as well. But now that you mention it, I definitely need to be looking into City breaks, I love exploring places and finding good places to eat.
Q: And what is your favourite type of food?
A: I get picked on a lot for this, but I do love a good potato, especially a jacket potato.
Q: To be fair, potatoes are very versatile. I do love a cheeky chip myself.
A: Exactly! And put those chips next to a good burger and now we’re really talking.
Q: Go on then, tell me your ultimate burger order.
A: That would be a Chicken Kiev burger served in a nice, toasted brioche bun, some salad, a lovely bit of garlic sauce and a side of chips and coleslaw, and I’m a very happy girl!
