Summer 2025

It's a summer of celebrating our people at Ecoglass

It’s been a hot summer in our factory in Norwich, but we’ve had some brilliant internal wins in the business that I’m excited to share in our latest Newsletter.

This edition is all about celebrating our people, as a family-run business, supporting our people and their growth defines who we’ve been, are and will always continue to be.

In this edition, we’ll follow recent promotions, a new generation of learning and celebrate our dear friend and colleague Colin Sturdy.

I hope you enjoy reading our summer edition newsletter.

Honouring our dear colleague, Colin Sturdy

Earlier this year, we sadly lost our dear friend and colleague Colin Sturdy. For over five decades, Colin was a huge part of Ecoglass. He was a kind, steady and generous presence who quietly shaped so much of what made our business special.

In his memory, and to celebrate the incredible impact he had on so many of us, our team members took part in a Race for Life charity event to celebrate and honour Colin whilst raising money in the fight against Cancer.

We’re proud to share that, thanks to the generosity of our team, customers, suppliers and wider community, we’ve raised £1,645 to date.

Thank you to everyone who’s contributed; it means a great deal to us and to Colin’s family. We’re honoured to carry forward his legacy of care, kindness and quiet strength.

Have you caught up with our Meet the Team series?

This summer, we’ve been spending time with various team members across departments in our Meet the Team series. In a collection of interviews, available here on our website, we’ve been getting behind the scenes on daily routines, problem-solving solving and realising there’s a collective love for Spain amongst our team as a favoured holiday destination!

Want to know more about someone on the team we haven’t covered yet?

Let us know and we’ll make sure they feature in the series!

People Profile

Left to right: Mathew Collins, James Bishop and Craig Hopper

People are at the heart of everything we do at Ecoglass. The strength of who we are is grounded in a time-served team that consistently delivers above and beyond for our customers.

Recognising individual contributions, we’re incredibly proud to announce the promotions of James Bishop to Operations Manager and Mathew Collins to Production Manager.

As long-serving team members, both James and Mat have played a key role in driving day-to-day efficiency and upholding the high product quality standards our customers rely on. Their trusted knowledge of our systems, people and processes has been instrumental in shaping the future of our operational excellence.

These appointments, alongside Craig Hopper’s recent promotion to Key Account Manager, reflect our ongoing commitment to strengthening both our operations and customer relationships as we scale up sustainably, protect our values, and invest in the future of our business and our people.

Have you been feeling the heat?

With the recent heatwaves and rising temperatures, energy efficiency isn’t just about keeping heat in, it’s also about keeping your space cool and comfortable in the summer heat. The right units can help to regulate indoor temperatures, making a noticeable difference to comfort levels all year round.

We’re always thinking about seasonal performance. From chilly mornings to blazing afternoons, and we’re here to help customers choose the right solutions for year-round efficiency. If you need help in guiding your customers to the right products, contact our teams for expert advice and help.

Supporting the next generation of talent

This summer we will be welcoming Craig Hopper’s son Ellis into the Ecoglass family for a summer internship. As a budding entrepreneur, Ellis has demonstrated a keen interest in the mechanics of running a business and we’re keen to support his ambitions.

Mark High will be taking Ellis under his wing for the summer: “Ellis is a bright young man who has already demonstrated keen business acumen. I'm looking forward to not only teaching him what I know but also learn from his perspective. I’m a keen ambassador for two-way mentorship and supporting the growth and ambitions of the next generation.”

Ellis will be keeping a short diary of his experiences at Ecoglass. Do keep a lookout for his series later on this summer!
