Pilkington Activ is a durable, coated self-cleaning glass that requires less frequent cleaning and provides clearer vision during and after rainfall, compared to ordinary float glass. It has good scratch resistance and durability, and in most circumstances can be treated the same as ordinary float glass.

Pilkington Activ can be single glazed or incorporated into an insulating glass unit, with the self-cleaning coating positioned on surface # 1, the outside of the building. It is especially ideal for Conservatories and hard-to-reach locations such as roofs and canopies.

The book of ‘1000 Inventions and Discoveries’ features Pilkington Activ alongside other home improvements that have revolutionised the world, such as the light bulb, telephone and float glass (another Pilkington innovation!).

How does it work?

  The coating uses the UV in daylight and precipitation to break down and loosen even 

       heavy soiling.

   It works both on cloudy days an during the night

  Reduces cleaning and maintenance costs and gives windows a better appearance.
